Afro Asian Psychology

Afro Asian Psychology, Counseling, Clinical dan Physiological Perspectives. is a collection of articles based on the conference on the Afro Asian Psychology which was held in UKM bangi, Malaysia.

General psychology or commonly refered as "Western psychology' is limited in its ability to explain non-Western phenomena because of its reliance on Western theory. Thus effort by indigeneous psychologists to correct this heavy reliance on Western models as displayed by the articles in this book has to be commended. These articles are based on research done in developing countries of the Afro-Asian region. The countries included Australia, Basotho, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philipines and Singapore. The phenomena studied still suggest indigenization from with-out whereby Western models and methods were imposed on non-Western cultures. However it indicates a phase in the process of indigenization of Afro-Asian psychology, an important phase which can be linked to the take-off stage that requires further refinements in research, unimposed by external criteria.
